New York’s Best Cocktails

 

Now that the weather has finally turned, New York City’s cocktail menus are brimming with fall flavors that will warm you up for the cool days ahead. Imagine drinks infused with delicious spices and seasonal ingredients, smoky spirits, and festive flavors that will take you right into the holiday season. Bar Masa: Dusk to Dawn

This one’s for you, margarita lovers. The Dusk to Dawn at Bar Masa is an innovative, Asian-inspired take on the classic Mexican cocktail, combining Creyente Mezcal, Green Chartreuse, and pineapple. And instead of traditional salt, the drink is rimmed with shichimi, a Japanese spice that’s full of warmth and umami.

Center Bar: The Slippery Terrace

Center Bar, a sophisticated cocktail lounge with an Art Deco flair, is celebrating new twists on the classics this season. Case in point: The Slippery Terrace. An update on a classic gin and tonic, it’s made with Hendrick’s Gin, cucumber, cilantro, lime, and tonic. Enjoy the city views as you listen to a pianist playing on select evenings.

Per se: Penicillin

The Penicillin at Per Se is the perfect cozy cocktail, thanks to the combination of Caol Ila 12 year Single Malt Scotch, Massenez “Crème de Gingembre,” and lemon juice. “Peaty characteristics of this single malt bring a sense of warmth, along with flavors of ginger,” says Hak Soo Kim, the Head Sommelier at Per Se. “The garnish of a charred lemon slice embodies the yellow and brown colors of autumn.

Porter House Bar & Grill: Porter House Negroni

At Porter House Bar & Grill, the Porter House Negroni is a tribute to local small businesses. It’s made with a trio of spirits—Dorothy Parker Gin, Faccia Brutto Aperetivo, and Little City Vermouth—that are all produced within New York State. The drink is finished off with a teaspoon of honey, plus a garnish of rosemary and orange twist to give it an extra air of elegance.

Momofuku Noodle Bar: Cucumber Dill Saketini

At Momofuku Noodle Bar, the mixologists made sure to feature a Cucumber Dill Saketini on the cocktail menu, as it is a slightly less boozy version of a regular martini. “We infuse cucumber into our spirit base to keep it refreshing, and incorporate a dill-infused aquavit to add an herbaceousness to the overall flavor profile,” says Haera Shin, the Beverage Director at Momofuku Restaurants. “These Scandinavian flavors make it perfect for cold weather sipping.”

Ascent Lounge New York: Coconut Espresso Martini

The regularly changing cocktail menu at Ascent Lounge New York is full of beautiful surprises like the Coconut Espresso Martini. Designed with coconut-infused Belvedere Vodka, coconut creme syrup, an espresso shot, and a toasted-coconut rim, everything about this cocktail begs to be sipped by a warm fireplace—or while sitting on a velvet banquette with a view of the dazzling city skyline.
